About us
Alison Paddon-Hicks and Kevin King established A & K Events in March 2004; a partnership born from involvement in family orientated groups such as the Herts Single Parent Social Club (HSPSC) who were constantly looking for new ideas to entertain the children. Alison Paddon-Hicks BA (Hons) is a mum with a background in Sales, Marketing and Customer Service and has specialist knowledge of the firework trade from her involvement and now partnership in her family’s business Whizzz Bang Fireworks; which brings a very keen eye for issues regarding safety! Kevin is no longer involved in the business since our split a couple of years ago. Since 2004 the company moved on in leaps and bounds going from one bouncy castle & Inflatables to 18, over 40 games and adding Candy Floss, Popcorn, a new relationship with a Fairground Family and purchasing our State of the Art Photo / Video Booth trading as Cheesy Pics! The company became A & K Events Ltd in 2010 and despite the changes is still going strong.
Mission Statement
We dedicate ourselves to the safe entertainment of adults and children through Quality Public and Private Events using Bouncy Castles & Inflatables, Go Karts, Giant Games, Candy Floss, Popcorn, Crazy Golf and Fairground Rides to name a few of our vast range of other Party Goods within our Local area.
We aim to achieve this by:
*Purchasing all our equipment from reputable British manufacturers with over 20 years experience and who offer a product which embraces top quality design and materials and manufacturing of the highest standards including all health & safety criteria.
*Ensuring all our bounced upon equipment undergoes yearly, stringent safety tests in line with Health & Safety Guidelines of which we will happily produce copies of certificates when requested, (NB. These are equivalent to the new PIPA Standards and are undertaken by a PIPA Qualified Inspector), as well as yearly PAT for all our electrical equipment and 3 yearly testing for non bounced upon equipment.
*Undertaking risk assessments for all our equipment (available on request).
*Providing Safe Play Instructions to ensure safe operation of all equipment as Standard Policy.
*Taking out Five Million Pounds Public Liability Insurance which ensures we meet the minimum requirements for a Hirer linked with Hertfordshire County Council (please see FAQs for more information including limitations).
*Providing Roping off Facilities for all Public events
*Joining TIPE (The Inflatable Play Enterprise), BIHA (British Inflatable Hirers Alliance) and FSB (Federation of Small Businesses) which provides us with up to date legislation and new ideas within the trade.
*Visually checking all equipment before and after use and implementing any repairs or maintenance required including ensuring the equipment is immaculately clean.
*Staying relatively small to enable us to offer a personalized service with good timekeeping and the finishing touches that make an event really special.
